"Yes, you have me now," you say, shaking your head as you sit. "Great." There's a glee in her eyes. "Now tell me what's bothering you." You exhale. The decision forms before you fully register it. "Didn't sleep," you say, simpler than expected. "Not properly." She watches, measuring how much is explanation and how much is deflection. "Work?" A brief hesitation. "Something like that." She leans back, not pushing, not letting go. "You've been saying that for weeks." No judgement. Just observation. Then: "Are you doing it again?" She isn't specific, but you know exactly what she means. You haven't in months, but you might, any day now. You had a drinking problem once, and Elizabeth is a large part of why you got out of it. It's why you hold onto her the way you do. There's a bottle of strong whiskey under your bed. You could have thrown it out with the rest, months ago. You didn't. Something told you you'd need it again. You've been lucky not to, but this new work keeps dragging up stress and memories you don't have anywhere to put. "Price?" You look up. What do you say?
